How the radar works, what we store, and why it's different.
Does Tremble store my location?
Ordinary use never stores your precise location — only a coarse area roughly 153 m × 106 m, calculated on-device. That coarse area expires after 24 hours and is deleted automatically thereafter. During Precision Finding your exact position is stored for 120 seconds, then expires and is deleted automatically thereafter. It is never readable inside the app by anyone — not by you, not by your match. You choose when to turn it on, and ending the session deletes it immediately. Bluetooth signal strength never leaves your phone — it is evaluated on-device only.
How does Run Club mode work?
If your device detects another Tremble user nearby via Bluetooth and GPS for 5 minutes during a run, Run Club activates automatically. You get a 30-minute match window. No tapping required. Encounter data expires after 30 minutes and is deleted automatically thereafter. After your run, you get a recap — who you crossed paths with, nothing more.
How does Gym Mode work?
Stay within a gym's geofenced area for 10 minutes and Tremble sends you a notification. Tap it to activate Gym Mode. DND turns on. You get a quiet list of who's nearby — no alerts, no interruptions. Your gym presence record expires after 6 hours. When you leave, a recap appears based on gym encounters.
What's the difference between Free and Pro radar range?
Free tier uses a 100m radius — GPS geohash pre-filter combined with Bluetooth signal strength ≥ −75 dBm. Pro extends this to 250m by loosening the Bluetooth threshold to ≥ −85 dBm. The GPS geohash layer is required for anything beyond pure Bluetooth range, which maxes out around 30–80m in real-world conditions.
What is Weekend Getaway?
A time-limited access pass to all Pro features. Activates Friday at 19:00 and deactivates Sunday at 19:00, in your local timezone — it follows you if you travel. Auto-renews weekly at €2.99 per weekend; cancel anytime from your Apple subscription settings. Useful if you're going out and want full radar range without committing to a monthly plan.
What does the wave mechanic do?
When someone compatible is within range, you see them on the radar. You can send a wave — a single tap. If they send one back, it's a match. You get a 30-minute window to find each other. No chat. No messages. The app steps back the moment the match happens.
What is Pulse Intercept?
After a mutual wave, you can send your phone number or a view-once photo — two buttons, no typing. Phone numbers are held in ephemeral storage for 10 minutes to allow delivery, then expire and are deleted automatically thereafter. View-once photos expire after 10 minutes. The delivery pointer is destroyed before the photo is served — double delivery is impossible. The media file is deleted on retrieval; any undelivered remnant is removed by a 1-day cleanup rule.
